Free Advertising for Your Web Sites

Article marketing, of all online marketing strategies, is least likely to ding your pocketbook. You could spend some money purchasing how-to guides, but the actual implementation of article marketing is free--if you use Hubpages or other free sites to build your online presence. It is important to understand that there is no one perfect right way to do article marketing.

Article marketing often follows this road:

  1. Create a Web site or landing page (a one page site about your topic or product).
  2. Monetize it with AdSense or affiliate products.
  3. Optimize the site with at least 10 long-tail keywords (phrases).
  4. Start a blog.
  5. Write 2 or more articles for each of the 10 long-tail keywords.
  6. Publish one article for each keyword as a Hubpage. Publish the other as a blog entry.
  7. Link the blog to the article, and link both to the Web page with a hyperlink in the author textbox or the author bio.
  8. Do this for each keyword phrase.

While this is a bit oversimplified, it will give you a start. After you have these articles written and uploaded, you need to help Google and other search engines find your work. Sites such as www.pinggoat.com or www.pingomatic.com will help with this. Ping, or send notice to, each search engine that is appropriate to your topic. You should also submit the Web site to at least the two most common search engines, Google (www.google.com/addurl/) and Yahoo (https://ecom.yahoo.com/dir/submit/intro/). These actions will help search engines index your site more quickly.

While this information does not guarantee that your article marketing will be successful, it is a good beginning.  Persistence is the key to success in any online marketing endeavor. Plan your work and work your plan is not just a cutsey saying.  It is vital in this field.  Plan your week with daily tasks, then get them done.  At the end of the week, review what you accomplished, and plan the next week.  Anything not completed on the day it is planned should be moved forward to the following day.  Persistence, consistency, and detemination will see you through to success.

Hello, Hanna,

First, there are no stupid questions, except for those you will not ask for fear of embarrassment. Without questions, you have no opportunity for learning.

To answer your questions:

1. The article you read above is a hubpage because it is published on Hubpages.com. If you write and submit an article to your Hubpages.com account, you have published a 'hubpage.' The second article could be published on a blog or on a Web site elsewhere, but they both need to link to the site you are promoting.

2. The author textbox or bio box is located at the bottom of the article in directories such as ezinearticles.com. At Hubpages.com, you access this information by reading the author's bio, which you can access by clicking their name beneath their photo or avatar at the top of the page.

I will send you an email with more information.
